This BTEC course is offered to post 16 students at Headstart School. We have a high number of students who enjoy the creative elements involved in cooking and working as part of a team therefore this course enables our students to develop their skills and expertise, which, in turn, will equip them with the appropriate experience to enter the world of work. These experiences will also encourage our students to develop their personal skills for independent living.
The course covers a wide range of aspects relating to Hospitality including: food safety, costing and controlling finances, enterprise in the Hospitality Industry, planning, preparing and cooking food, front office services and food and beverage services in the Hospitality Industry.
We encourage students to participate in Work Experience to enable them to have first hand knowledge and understanding of what working in the real world involves.
W arrange many visit to colleges which offer catering courses and also to other businesses within the Hospitality sector such as hotels, cafes, restaurants and events.
Students develop confidence through experiential learning with pass rates for this course being 100%.
