Creativity, Vision, Coaching, Mentoring and Inspiration
At Headstart School, we believe that students should be at the heart of what we offer in the English subject. We are constantly seeking ways in which to inspire and challenge all students through classroom and outdoor learning. We have a vision for providing a child centred approach to English, one that nurtures a student’s academic, emotional, and physical needs and prepares them for the real world. Our students produce so much thoughtful and creative work that we feel that it’s a shame it has to stay locked inside exercise books therefore it is our intention to showcase as much brilliant English work as possible on these pages. The department’s schemes of work are built around the National Curriculum and Key Stage 3 Literacy Strategy in Years 7 to 9. In Years 10 and 11 pupils follow either Entry Level English or AQA GCSE syllabuses for English. Provision is in place for post 16 students to further develop English skills too. Why not develop your own skills too by contacting Caroline Belchem who can offer tailored approaches to meet the needs of individual adults.
